We dive into this Q and A with Susan Schenk, author of Beyond Ok: From Invisible to Invincible. Here is our listener's question:

I am dyslexic and so is my husband, our daughter is 6 in yr 2 at school in the UK. She is really struggling and I can see exactly the way I did at school, my best friend at school was very bright and I pretty much copied her work the whole way through primary and high school and I want to be able to help as much as I can. My daughter is so wonderful and has many other amazing talents like they way she engages with people, she has never had a bad day in her life she is always happy, very creative and will find fun and game in everything. Unfortunately the English school system doesn’t seem to value these things and the emphasis is on reading and spelling and maths. I would love to hear your top 5 tips or strategies to help her retain what she is learning. Thank you I love the podcast and love the idea of these shorter episodes xxx

In this mini episode we get into specific examples of ways to help your child learn! Don't miss it! Quest along with us and share your own experience with working with your child on  iTunes or Instagram. What tip did you like best??

In this Q & A mini episode we answer a pressing question for many parents at this time of year- will my child's IEP paper trail impact college admissions?! We answer a fellow listener's question:

"I have an 11 year old son in the 6th grade - now approaching middle school and high school. I am thinking about the future for my son. I heard that an IEP may prevent a child from getting a regular high school diploma. Will it affect a school scholarship - and college applications?"

The answer may surprise you!

We discuss the admissions process and the importance of entrance essays! We also share how to take control of the narrative when you have a learning difference. Framing your profile and highlighting your strengths are some examples given to help others see unique assets ( college or career wise! ).  Quest along with us and share your own experience with college admissions on  iTunes or Instagram.
