Brian Kinghorn. Neurodiversity advocate. Ted X Speaker . Statistician

I love a conversation that manages to be philosophical, cynical and hopeful all at once. In this thought provoking jam session with TED speaker Brian Kinghorn we get into an in wonderful chat which touches upon topics that range from, the nature of pathology and disorder to how "neurodiversity" can become another form of discriminatory elitism ,while touching upon both Brian's personal journey and his vision for the future.

Favorite Quote:

"We see differences , yet the whole problem is when we say which one is the correct one, which one is the order or the disorder. Because... we try to establish that whatever the "typical" majority does is right, which is not necessarily right. Typical means majority, that's all it means, we need to abandon the value judgement"

Five-time martial arts World Champion Scott Sonnon, whose recent TEDx talk on learning disabilities has reached more than 50 million people, jamms with me about his new autobiography,  “A Mountain Stands: Confessions of a Suppressed Genius”.

Sonnon faced dyslexia so severe that he was hospitalized in a psychiatric institution for “disruptive classroom behavior", and yet went on to become a key note speaker at Mensa, teach in several universities , and crush it ( with a super guru following)  in the entrepreneurial space.

Scott has earned recognition as one of the Top 25 Trainers in the world by Men’s Fitness Magazine, “World's Smartest Workout” Coach by Men’s Health Magazine, and was named one of the most influential martial art teachers of the 21st century by Black Belt Magazine.

Basically Scott is badass, and here is how you can be too: Hint, get really, really uncomfortably, vulnerable, first with yourself, and then with others.

Why are the Finnish schools so damn good, and the one psychological trait that can make you kinda badass too.

A new global league table, produced by the Economist Intelligence Unit for Pearson, has found Finland to be the best education system in the world!

For Emilia Elisabeth Lahti M.S.Sc., M.A.P.P, positive psychology researcher, that's no surprise. Lahti's research has identified the ONE psychological trait in Finnish culture which has contributed to it's astronomical success. Here I jam with Emilia as she defines the exact psychological trait of finnish success, and shares some insight on how we can incorporate some Finish stardom, sans skiing to work and a pet polar bear. Her research has captured the fascination of many, including writers from Scientific American, The Creativity Post and Business Insider.
